MITZVAH RIDDLE OF THE WEEK
Q: The Sages are on record for taking King Solomon to task for having too many wives, against the explicit statement of the Torah. But the Torah also explicitly states that a king may not excessively enrich himself, and both Kings David and Solomon were fabulously wealthy, and we don't find the Sages objecting! (Credit to Erez HaCohen for "stumping the Rabbi" on this!

ANSWERS TO LAST WEEK'S MITZVAH RIDDLE
Q: We know that the High Holidays are defined by the Torah as Days of Awe. What is the source of the special prayers and etc., emphasized during the preceding month of Elul, beyond the obvious need to prep for HH?
A: Moshe Rabbeinu ascended Heavenwards three times; first, immediately after we accepted the Torah at Sinai, second, after coming down on the 17th of Tamuz and breaking the Tablets upon witnessing the Golden Calf; and third, from the first day of Elul until Yom Kippur, when Moshe successfully extricated the Jewish People from the Sin of the Golden Calf. Thus the month of Elul, plus the first 10 days of Tishrei, is inherently a period of Ratzon, closeness, between G-d and Am Yisrael.
