The History of The Country Shul
The Country Shul was founded in 1990 when three local families launched a Jewish center to serve as a resource and community establishment for those living in the Richmond Hill and Vaughan area.
Over the years, the Country Shul has evolved and adapted to our ever-expanding community.
In the early days, the Shul began in the basement of one of our founding members before moving onto shopping center locations and eventually relocating to a house on the southeast corner of Bathurst and Carrville/Rutherford.
A New Building
In 2015, we formed a partnership with The Jewish Bukharian Community of Toronto, where we built a beautiful center on this property that has gone on to serve the expanding needs of both communities.
Javid has been with the Country Shul since the early 90s as one of the original founding members.
As a major benefactor for many years, he was actively involved with the construction of our building.
He continues to lead the team at Country Shul.
Originally from Belgium but living in Israel most of his life, Rabbi Moshe Gershon Steinmetz is dedicating his life to bringing Jews close to their tradition.
After many years with Arachim in Israel, Rabbi MG moved to Toronto with his family to lead The Country Shul.
You can connect with Rabbi MG during regular prayer services and weekly classes.
We look forward to meeting you!
Country Shul welcomes you to join for Shabbat services this week. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
